BAU 2019: International premiere of the 3D GLASS product

Glass surfaces and building facades can now be constructed with uniquely shaped glass panes, for lightweight-looking, sophistically shaped constructions, modern curvilinear visions and parametric architecture.

3D GLASS by PRESS GLASS is a new approach to thermoforming glass using patented technology that uses ceramic moulds in place of previously used metal moulds. The efficient process of forming individual ceramic matrices gives greater freedom in forming large surfaces consisting of unique glass panes.

At BAU 2019, you will have the opportunity to see 3D GLASS as the main element of a façade built of unique and geometrically varied elements.

BETTER ACOUSTIC INSULATION

The irregular and curvilinear surface of façades using 3D GLASS improves the acoustic insulation of buildings, thanks to better dispersion of acoustic waves. The effect can be strengthened when 3D GLASS is used as a “second skin”. The degree of acoustic insulation improvement depends on the designed shape of the glass.

GREATER LOAD RESISTANCE

Well-designed shapes together with chemical strengthening greatly improve the rigidity of glass and its ability to transfer loads.

IMPROVED THERMAL INSULATION FOR SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGS

3D GLASS contributes to the sustainability of tall buildings by making heating and cooling more efficient. Using single or laminated glass panes with the newest high selective coatings and connecting them with spacer bars allows us to offer energy efficient double or triple glazed units, greatly improving the indoor environmental quality of buildings by reducing heat loss and limiting sun penetration.

IMPROVED SAFETY

3D GLASS panes can be laminated with one another using PVB foil, making them safer. If a glass pane ever gets broken, it remains in position thanks to its integration with the foil.

NO VISIBLE CONSTRUCTION

3D GLASS panes can be equipped with glass holders (point clamps). These facilitate fixing a glass pane to the internal bearing structure of the façade or between the proper façade and the “second skin’.

AESTHETIC APPEARANCE, PRIVACY, AND WELL-LIT ROOMS

It is possible to print individual designs on 3D GLASS to make buildings look better, make glazed rooms more intimate, or control the amount of light penetrating specific rooms.
